Write financial reform legislation instead of only blathering away to your blog readers

You may or may not agree with the following, but you do know real financial reform is needed now and there is no more time to waste:

In your gut you know why AIG, FNM, FRE, etc blew up and had to be bailed out.
You know the Commodity Futures Modernization Act was a horrendous bill.
The process of lobbyists and a few select Congressman being able and willing to write appropriate reform makes you sick.
Being able to “legally” play both sides of a trade to purposely try to bankrupt a company and a country is too much risk for you to bear any longer.
Having a phenomenally complicated interconnected global financial system that moves at the speed of light with no basic regulations that would prevent massive blowups drives you nuts.
You’re sick of accepting funky obfuscated off balance sheet accounting that you know destroys certainty and confidence.
You’ve been writing about this stuff for years/months on your blog, in your classes, as you teach, etc and have finally realized you do not trust the legislation you know is needed will be written.

Let’s write the legislation ourselves and get it pushed through. Think big. Let’s take action now.

Fix Congress First! Fair Elections Now Act:

What is the Fair Elections Now Act?

The bipartisan Fair Elections Now Act was offered this year by Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Arlen Specter (D-PA), and Reps. John Larson (D-CT) and Walter Jones (R-NC). With senior leaders in the Senate and House taking the lead, and 135 co-sponsors in the House alone, the bill has strong champions in both houses of Congress.
